Mattress Construction

The Sunkiss is available in two thickness versions of 10'' and 12''. Both Versions are built from the same materials and share the same construction of four layers of foam at different density levels fulfilling different functions.

Since the mattress is flippable, those sleeping on the medium firmness side will lie on a gel-infused memory foam. Those sleeping on the medium-firm side will lie on the dense poly foam-based support layer. In the middle of both sides, there is a transition layer comprised of an open-cell foam.

The layers of the SweetNight Sunkiss

Cover: Semi-synthetic rayon fabric. This fabric is hypoallergenic and highly absorbent effectively wicking moisture. The cover fabric can be unzipped, removed and washed.

Medium Firmness Side

Top Comfort Layer: Soft gel-infused memory foam which slowly responds to sleepers' weight effectively contouring the body. The gel assists in dispersing excessive heat.

Lower Comfort layer: Ventilated malleable poly foam adding cushioning to the mattress and facilitating air circulation augmenting the cooling effect created by the the gel-infused foam in the comfort layer above.

Medium-Firm Side

Support Layer: Highly dense poly foam providing edge-to-edge support curbing sinking and adding durability to the mattress.

Transition Layer

Zoned foam layer: Open-cell medium density poly foam providing 3 zoned support improving spinal alignment. The open-cell technology significantly reduces heat retention.

Feel

How you'll experience the mattress depends on the side you're going to sleep on. The medium firmness gives a cushy feel. It enables extensive sinking which envelops the body providing a melting-into-the bed sensation. The transition and support layers below counter this sinking preventing a quicksand effect making sleepers feel stable on the mattress despite the sinking.

The medium-firm side prioritizes support. It's stiffer and much more responsive than the medium firmness size. It minimizes sinkage making sleepers feel they are 'on' the mattress on not 'in' it.

The cover fabric on both sides has a sleek and smooth texture. Its breathability keeps the surface of the mattress cool and dry even after prolonged sleep.

Pressure Relief

Side sleepers of all weights will feel highly comfortable on the Sunkiss' medium-firmness side. The two comfort layers will wrap their hips and shoulders mitigating pressure. The transition layer with its zoned support will target these areas and, together with the lift generated by the support layer, will keep their spine properly aligned.

The Sunkiss' will appeal to light and average weight back sleepers. The two soft comfort layers will deeply contour their mid and lower back, soothing the muscles and relieving everyday aches and pains. The zoned support delivered by the transition layer below will curb sagging and help them maintain a healthy sleeping position. Sleepers who weigh more than 150 pounds will still feel stable on the mattress thanks to the hardened foam in the support layer.

The medium firmness side of the Sunkiss won't be able to cope well enough with back sleepers weighing more than 250 pounds. Excess sinking will most likely throw their spine out of its natural alignment and cause them discomfort and pain. The medium-firm side, on the other hand, will give them the support they need.

Lightweight stomach sleepers will like the medium firmness side of the Sunkiss, like their lightweight side and back sleeper counterparts, they'll highly benefit from the cushioning provided by the malleable foam in the mattress' two comfort layers. The slow responding gel-infused memory foam, in particular, will cradle their abdomen area mitigating pressure in their lumbar back. Moreover, the zoned support delivered by the transition layer will simultaneously push their abdomen upwards preventing spinal curvature.

Average weight stomach sleepers will need stronger support to keep the area under their rib cage from plunging into the mattress. The highly dense poly foam in the support layer of the medium-firm side will do a fine job keeping this area straight while the medium density foam in the transition layer will give them the cushioning they need to feel comfortable lying on the mattress.

XL stomach sleepers, especially those who weigh close to or more than 300 pounds, will require more robust support than the Sunkiss is able to provide. They should opt for mattresses initially designed for plus-size people.

Motion Isolation

The Sunkiss' medium firmness side scores high when it comes to isolating sleepers' movements. The two comfort layers with their body-conforming foam are more than capable of absorbing the energy generated by these movements and preventing it from being transferred to the rest of the mattress.

The medium-firm side is more responsive and therefore has lower capacity for curbing motion transfer. Having said that, it still does a better job compared to latex, hybrid and innerspring mattresses. The medium density foam in the transition layer functions as a shock absorber capable of isolating sleepers' movements of low to medium intensity. Practically speaking, unless your partner is a restless sleeper, you'll enjoy peaceful and quiet nights.

Repositioning

Repositioning is the Achilles heel of the Sunkiss' medium firmness side. The deep contouring provided by the two comfort layers hinder movement on the mattress' surface.Lightweight sleepers shouldn't have much of a problem, but their heavier counterparts will have to exert quite a lot of effort changing their sleeping positions.

In contrast, the medium-firm side allows much easier movement on its surface thanks to the more responsive high-density poly-foam in the support layer.

Edge Support

The Sunkiss provides good edge support on both of its sides. The medium firmness side enables great amount of sinkage which should render the mattress' perimeter not supportive enough. However, the zoned support given by the transition layer keeps the mattress' edges firm. In addition, the support layer counters the sinkage generated by the comfort layer, so even if you tend to sink while lying close to the edge, you'll still feel stable.

Having said that, heavyweight sleepers won't be supported enough sleeping around the exterior of the medium firmness side. The medium firm side will much more effectively support them in case they sleep away from the center of the mattress.

Heat Retention

The firm-medium side tends to retain less heat than the medium firmness side due to reduced sinking. Yet, the latter still provides a cool sleep environment. The breathable rayon cover enables excellent sweat-wicking keeping sleepers' body dry, especially in humid areas. The gel in the memory foam in the upper comfort layer disperses heat across the mattress preventing the creation of hot spots. The ventilated foam in the lower comfort layer and the open-cell foam in the transition layer facilitate free flow of air in and out of the mattress aiding in the cooling process.

Frame & Foundation

The Sunkiss is compatible with most of the foundations, frames and adjustable bases you'll find on the market as long as they're firm enough to support its weight. SweetNight offers its own Tranquil Frame.

The Tranquil is an adjustable base made of solid wood and aluminum. It has 3 adjustment modes (with independent head incline of up to 60° and foot incline of up to 40°) and 3 preset positions, including TV, zero-gravity and memory. The base comes with a retainer bar, sensors on both sides, one side pocket, dual USB charging ports on both sides and LED lights under the bed.

The base can support a maximum weight of 705 pounds. Its starting price is $647 for a Full size mattress. Maximum price is $1,088 for a Split King mattress. It's sold with a 100-night trial and is backed by a 10-year warranty.

The warranty doesn't cover natural wear-and-tear resulting in the increase of softness of the foam and accidental damage (spills, stains, tears and burning marks).
