Mattress Construction

The PlushBeds Luxury Bliss is 12'' thick. It consists of three layers of cotton, Talalay latex and coils. What differentiates the two firmness models from one another is the density of the Talalay latex. The medium firmness model has softer 24 ILD latex while the latex in the medium-firm model is denser and more resilient with an ILD of 36.

The layers of the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss

Cover: 1'' of circular-knit organic cotton fabric on top of organic British wool. Both of these materials are highly breathable wicking away moisture and warm air. The cover has six linen textured heavy duty handles for easy repositioning of the mattress.

Comfort Layer: 3'' of organic supple Talalay latex delivering pressure reliving bounce.

Support Layer: 8'' individually fabric-encased coils generating lift and curbing sinkage. The minimum number of coils is 682 in the Twin mattress. The maximum is 1,444 in the Split King mattress.

Feel

The PlushBeds Luxury Bliss' breathable cotton and wool cover wicks away moisture from the body making sure the surface of the mattress remains cool and dry even after prolonged sleep.

Talalay latex is more elastic than Dunlop latex. It gives the Luxury Bliss a bouncy feel enabling it to pleasantly cushion the body without trapping it in bed as is the case with memory foam.

The medium firmness model is softer than the medium-firm model. The former allows moderate sinkage, which makes it cozier. The latter, in contrast, generates stronger lift keeping sleepers highly stable on the mattress. If firmness is a considerable concern for you, the Luxury Bliss is among the best firm mattresses sold online.

Pressure Relief

Side sleepers weighing up to 250 pounds will like the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss' medium firmness model. Its medium density and flexible Talalay latex in the comfort layer will pad their hips and shoulders alleviating pressure. The 8'' coils will keep their spine straight by curbing excess sinkage.

Side sleepers weighing more than 250 pounds should opt for the medium-firm level. Its higher density latex will avert sagging and, together with the coils, will keep their spine properly aligned.

Lightweight back sleepers will feel fine on the Luxury Bliss' medium firmness model. It's soft enough to soothe the muscles along their spine reducing pressure.

Their average and heavyweight counterparts will need a more rigid mattress capable of elevating their lumbar and thoracic back in order to maintain a healthy sleeping position throughout the night. The medium-firm model will be a better match for them.

Stomach sleepers weighing less than 150 pounds will feel comfortable lying on the Luxury Bliss' medium firmness model. The soft cotton and wool in its cover and the supple 24 ILD latex in its comfort layer will cushion their abdomen mitigating pressure. The coils will lift the entire area below their rib cage making sure their spine won't be thrown out of its natural alignment.

Stomach sleepers whose weight exceeds 150 pound, and especially those heavier than 250 pounds, will require the denser latex of the medium-firm model. Working in tandem with the coils, this hardened latex will prevent their waists and hips from plunging too deeply into the mattress, which may result in discomfort and cause pain.

Motion Isolation

The PlushBeds Luxury Bliss has mediocre capacity for isolating motion. Its bouncy latex doesn't absorb the energy created by sleepers' movement as well as foam. The encased coils transfer less motion compared to traditional spring systems, but they still vibrate when compressed and that may disturb sleepers, especially those who tend to wake up every time their partner tosses and turns.

The medium firmness model isolates motion better than the stiffer medium-firm model. Its more supple latex trap sleepers' movements in bed more efficiently. However if you're a light sleeper or if your partner tends to sleep restlessly, you should seek a more contouring mattress equipped to reduce motion transfer.

Repositioning

The PlushBeds Luxury Bliss' both firmness models enable easy repositioning owing to the bounce and lift generated by their Talalay latex and 8'' coils. In comparison to the medium firmness model, the medium-firm model is less sinkable and so sleepers, the heavier ones in particular, will need to exert less effort maneuvering on its surface.

Edge Support

With no contouring foam in its layers, the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss is less sinkable on its perimeter. The buoyant latex and the coils keep sleepers who lie away from the center relatively stable. In that regard, the medium-firm model does a better job thanks to its denser latex.

Having said that, if we compare the Luxury Bliss to some other PlushBeds' hybrid mattresses which contain Dunlop Latex, for example the Signature Bliss mattress, we'll find that its edge support is inferior. The reason is that Dunlop latex is harder and more supportive than the Talalay latex its based on.

Heat Retention

If you're seeking a mattress designed to regulate temperature, the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss is a good fit for you. Its breathable cotton and wool cover does a wonderful job neutralizing body heat and wicking it away. The mattress' Talalay latex is innately more aerated than Dunlop latex and, so, tends to retain less heat. Moreover, the comfort layer containing this latex is built with 12 vents allowing free flow of cool air, which reduces heat retention. The coils increase this air flow further contributing to the cooling effect.

Frame & Foundation

The PlushBeds Luxury Bliss is designed to fit almost all the platform beds that can be found on the market as long as they're solid enough to carry its weight. Practically speaking, that means at least 4 supportive legs for Twin, Twin XL and Full mattresses and 5-6 supportive legs for Queen, King and California King mattresses. As to slat beds, you'll have to make sure the slats are at least 2.5'' wide. Moreover, the gap between them mustn't be more than 3''. PlushBeds offers its customers its own platforms, which are ideal for its mattresses.

The Quiet Balance Bed Frame is crafted from recycled steel and fiberglass infused resin aimed at absorbing noise. It has an 8'' profile, which gives enough room for storage. A frame for a Twin mattress costs $224. For a California King mattress, you'll pay $311.

The Natural Wood Mattress Foundation is made of spruce wood wrapped in organic cotton fabric. It comes in two profiles of 5.5'' and 7.5''. The foundation is massively built, and it's capable of supporting up to 1,200 pounds. It's prices range from $374 for a Twin mattress, 5.5'' profile, to $586 for both profiles of the California King mattress.

PlushBeds also manufactures and sells four models of adjustable bases, which include the Remote Control Bed-Elevate, the Recliner Bed-Smart Elevation, the Adjustable Bed-Relax and the Split Adjustable Bed-Ultra Ergonomic.

The Split Adjustable Bed-Ultra Ergonomic is the most advanced model. It's split into two sides giving each sleeper individual controls. It features a head tilt of up to 60°and a foot tilt of up to 45°, upgraded lower back support enabling to raise or lower the lumbar bar, an Innovative Reach AssistsTM, which moves the bed back when raised keeping sleepers in place next to the nightstand, advanced vibration massage with variable settings, USB ports on both sides of the bed, underbed LED nightlights, backlit wireless remote control, built-in Bluetooth, five preset positions (zero gravity, anti-snore,lounge, TV and flat), 6 additional programmable positions, touch or voice commands and automatic snore detection and head tilt.

The base is fitted with 8'' legs and can carry a total weight of 750 pounds. It's sold with a 10-year warranty. Its starting price is $3,811 for a Twin XL mattress. Maximum price is $6,624 for a split California King mattress.

The Luxury Bliss is backed by a prorated lifetime warranty. The warranty applies to the original purchaser only. It covers manufacturing and material defects, among which are indentations on the surface deeper than 1.5'' and splitting and cracking of the latex on condition that the mattress was properly handled.

The warranty doesn't cover the following:

  • normal wear-and-tear.
  • changing comfort preferences.
  • mold, odors and/or discoloration resulting from spills or insufficient ventilation
  • accidental damage, such as burns or tears.
  • damaged caused by improper cleaning and/or storage of the mattress.

The warranty may be invalidated if the mattress is placed on a foundation or frame which isn't supportive enough (see above).

If there is a defect covered by the warranty, PlushBeds will replace or repair the mattress at zero cost for the buyer during the first ten years. From the 10th year onwards, the buyer will have to pay 50% of the total costs of replacing or repairing the mattress. This rate increases by 3% for each consecutive year up to a maximum of 99%.

The Bottom Line

ThePlushBeds Luxury Hybrid is the right choice for users who prefer the bouncy feel given by the combination of elastic Talalay latex and coils over the somewhat more rigid feel of latex without coils or the cradling sensation of memory foam.

The Luxury Hybrid is more expensive than most other mattresses which consist of similar structure and materials. Yet bearing in mind that buying a new mattress isn't something you do on a daily basis, you may consider investing in something that is worth the money you spend on it. Taking into account how well it performs in almost all major categories, it's availability in two firmness levels and its organic and eco-friendly materials, the Luxury Hybrid is surely worth that money.
